And how are they to proclaim him unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
Romans 10:15 (NRSV)
Who we are?
For those who know us and for those who don’t, I am Emil Pienaar and I am married to the beautiful Aleisha Pienaar. We have both been called to minister the good news of Jesus Christ to the unreached people groups of the world.
December 3, 2017, Aleisha and I will be going to Peru for a mission trip into the Amazon Jungle. This is not a holiday – this is work for our Lord Jesus Christ. We will be attempting to make contact with some tribes that need to hear the Gospel. These are tribes that have been portrayed by the media as vicious and savage. We know this is not true, as they are people simply trying to survive in a world of western ideals, and unfortunately they are targeted to be victims of illegal activity because of their isolated state.
When I was four years old, I felt a call to reach out to the people in the Amazon and see each tribe come to know the Lord and Saviour I have come to know. In 2009 I went for my first trip with the group known as Amazon Missions (www.amazonmissions.com). In 2014, I was privileged to lead a group of 6 people in to the jungle under that same banner. We have seen so many men, women, and children come to know Jesus. Missionaries who are part of Amazon Missions recently had the tremendous privilege of meeting some of these uncontacted people. Read more about it on the website.
I am venturing up the Amazon river once again. This time it’ll be just my wife, Aleisha, and I. Our goal is to build more contacts for future trips. Additionally, as it is Aleisha’s first trip, this mission will help her to learn and understand what is involved in our trips. It is a great opportunity for her to experience the culture and prepare to lead alongside me as we take more people past their limits and into a territory that desperately needs God. We will work with past contacts and local missionaries to bring the Gospel to these uncontacted groups of people.

Website
For those that do not yet know, we are proud to announce that earlier this year we launched a website/blog. This is to help everyone know what we are up to and how people can get involved in our ministry to reach the unreached people groups of the world for Jesus. Make sure to visit our site and see all the exciting things from the past and the future.

Please feel free to pass the link on to friends and family so that more people can see the awesome work that God is doing in the Amazon. Also, be sure to like us on Facebook for alerts to new posts on the blog and short updates on where we are at in our planning.

Our Studies
Jesus has blessed us immensely. We have the great privilege of studying at a tertiary level. I have been completing my diploma in Enrolled Nursing and Aleisha has been doing her BAHons English degree at the University of Otago. While studying, I have been working full-time as a support worker.
Ascent Life Group
This year we started a Life Group for children aged 9 to 11 and it has been a great success. God is working in the new generation’s lives, and teaching them what it means to be ministers of the Gospel is exciting and very encouraging. Oftentimes we find ourselves learning more from them than we are teaching! It has brought us great joy to see these children of God grow more and more into what God has for them. As well as doing Ascent Life Group, Aleisha and I continue to help our local kids ministry once a month.
Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray. – Proverbs 22:6 (NRSV)
Palmerston Elim Church
I have the great opportunity of serving at an Elim church in Palmerston, a small town about 40 minutes out of Dunedin. The church is pastored by the incredible Eric and Lyn Meinders. I serve by ministering there once a month, and it has been a great honour to see how this little church has grown in spirit and in truth, and is beginning to realize God’s plan for this town. I can’t wait to see the future impact this church will have on their community and I look forward to continue being a part of their journey.
Feel free to invite us to speak at your church or Life Group, or any event, if you would like to hear more about what we do, and the testimonies that come from it.
